I think the edited version is going to get printed and hung on a wall in my house someplace.
I've been ignoring my iStock balance for months now and I finally have enough money to buy a new camera....YEAH!! So today while the boys were in downtown Chicago taking in the sights I ventured out shopping and bought myself a new toy, a Canon 40D!!!
I've had my Rebel XT for about 4 years and it's been a work horse to say the least. It's taken nearly 30,000 photos, been dropped a couple times, and been manhandled by children. Needless to say it's lived a very exciting and full life. Now it will rest peacefully in the camera bag next to the 40D and have a nice long, well deserved break from active duty.
I bought the 40D with the 28-135mm lens (it's got IS, woo hoo!) and the battery grip so it's a bit of a beast but I love it!
Tomorrow we are headed to the park with all of Glenn's family (all 27 of us) to take a family portrait (gulp!) so I am off to read the instruction manual to make sure I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
Each summer my boss at job #1 plans a whole bunch of summer activities for the staff.......BBQ's, movies, etc. This year when we were trying to come up with ideas I suggested we do a Habitat for Humanity day and we all take the day off and go help build something.
Well today the boss closed the office and 15 of us from the office plus a few spouses and my boys all went to help finish up a Habitat house and build a shed. Despite the fact that it's 100 degrees outside we had a great time.
By the way.....if you are ever interested in helping Habitat for Humanity all you have to do is call your local office and let them know you want to help build something. They will get you all set up!! The husband and I are thinking about doing this every year with our boys.
So let me get you caught up.....
In March I turned 36 and started that rapid descent to 40....EEK! I waged a battle with my body trying to control high blood pressure, an elevate heart rate, an irregular heart rate, chronic headaches, strange rashes, an increasingly unstable mood, unexplainable weight loss, and the sudden onset of involuntary bulimia. I am happy to report that I lost of few of the battles but I won the war and everything seems to be under control for the moment. Beta blockers and mood stabilizers are a wonderful thing!
In light of all the recent health issues however I have gone to working part time for the Ad Agency and have been trying to reduce stress as much as possible.
Reducing stress isn't always easy when you have a teenager, a soon to be teenager, and a 10 years old running around. Not to mention being in the throws of menopause and the hot flashes!
One of the things I have been doing to reduce stress is start carrying my camera around more. The pictures over there on the right were taken at a water fall right here in Casper.
From top to bottom:
1) My three boys....Steven (12), Sam (13), and Owen aka Bubba (10)
2) My little sister, Dabria (12 also)
3) The husband unit....isn't he a doll?!?!
4) Owen the ham!
5) Sam the disgruntled teenager .
6) Steven the soon to be disgruntled teenager.
7) Me and my boys!
He flew into Casper, Wyoming this morning for a rally and my dear husband made arrangements for me to meet him on his way out of town.
It was all a bit surreal siting on the airport ramp in front of his plane waiting for his motorcade to arrive. Once they were on the airport the Secret Service agent by the plane motioned for me to come over and wait for him. A few minutes later there he was standing in front of me shaking my hand.
I have to say the whole thing was VERY cool!!
OK, I have been waiting forever to tell everyone this… A few months ago, my parents were shopping at an Ace Hardware store. My mother was browsing through the picture frames and my mother was shocked to see… her granddaughter!! She found a frame that was manufactured by a company called Lawrence Frames with the caption of “Little One” engraved in the silver, using a photo of my niece, Skylyn. It is a photo that I sell in my iStock portfolio (you can see it here). We had to special order some more of the frames, as my mom bought the only two and no one else in the Valley carried it (believe me, I checked!!). I finally received the frames!!
Well.....we bought another house and will be moving again over the next 2 to 3 weeks. We aren't moving far, only about 10 minutes from where we live now, but this is a single family home and not a duplex. We weren't really prepared to buy a new home but we found this house and the price was perfect so we just couldn't pass it up.
Right now we're living in 1250 square feet, 3 bedroom, and 2.5 baths. The new place is 1700 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. That means the boys will all have their own room!!
Buying the new place means that we will soon become landlords also. We decided to keep our duplex unit and rent it out. Since we can rent it for about 50% more than the mortgage we figured it was a good investment to keep it. I'm hoping the whole rental process goes smoothly!!
We've moved my husband's record collection to three different states and it's now time to find new homes for these lovely untouched gems! In total there are 91 complete albums and 6 singles. Each album was opened upon purchase, played once to be recorded onto cassette and then carefully placed in a plastic cover. Every album is in perfect condition, most of the jackets are in good to excellent condition, and all were stored in a temperature controlled environment so there is no warping whatsoever.
If there are any vinyl collectors out there or you know of a collector please pass on the PDF below. All of the albums are listed in alphabetical order by artist and include the album name, record label, year of release, and our asking price. Of course all reasonable offers will be considered. If you have a question about an album or would like a photo just drop me an e-mail!
